President Tinubu Hosts NMA Leadership at the State House

On Monday, 1st September 2025, the leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), led by its President, Prof. Bala Mohammed Audu, paid a courtesy visit to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at his official residence in Abuja.

During the visit, Prof. Audu commended President Tinubu for his visionary healthcare reform agenda and assured him of the unwavering support of Nigerian doctors in driving transformative change in the health sector. He further expressed appreciation for the President’s prompt interventions in maintaining industrial harmony within the sector while also urging for the timely and full implementation of agreements already reached with the Association.

The NMA President particularly lauded the approval for the constitution of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), describing it as a milestone that will not only improve the welfare of healthcare workers but also help address the growing challenge of brain drain, popularly known as the “Japa” syndrome. On behalf of all Nigerian doctors, Prof. Audu presented a customized plaque as a mark of honor and appreciation to the President.

 


In his response, President Tinubu reaffirmed his resolve to deliver far-reaching reforms that will strengthen the nation’s healthcare system for the benefit of all Nigerians.
